Meet the friendly staff at Poolesville Veterinary Clinic!

  • Dr. Eeg
    Peter H. Eeg, DVM
    Veterinarian

    Dr. Peter Eeg grew up in Wheaton, Maryland and graduated from University of Maryland as an undergrad and graduate in Animal Science, Parasitology, and Immunology. He then attended and graduated with honors earning his veterinary degree from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. 

    Upon graduating, he interned at Peachtree Veterinary Clinic under the guidance of his lifelong friend; Dr. Chet Anderson. Dr. Eeg took over the reins of Poolesville Veterinary Clinic over 25 years ago, never looking back and always to the future.

    To expand his knowledge in veterinary medicine Dr. Eeg has obtained specialized training in laser surgery and therapy. Additionally, he worked in the first inter-disciplinary group related to pain management in people and animals, studied and lectured on the human-animal bond, quality of life issues and end of life care and euthanasia. He is an internationally recognized speaker in these areas and has traveled extensively at the request of National and International Veterinary Education Congresses.

    He shares his vast knowledge with fellow veterinarians as frequently as he can. He has written and published a book, “Veterinary Laser Surgery, A Practitioner’s Guide” and writes articles for veterinary publications.

    Dr. Eeg is an active member in the Poolesville Area Chamber of Commerce.

    Dr. Eeg currently resides on a small farm in Boyds, Maryland with his wife Cindy, 3 dogs and 4 cats: Abby, Felix, Willow, Birthday, Genevieve, Laney, and Lula, as well as horses, goats, and chickens.

    His daughter Jaime is a graduate of Dartmouth College in New Hampshire and could not be more proud!

    At the end of each and every day, Dr. Eeg remains devoted to his family, clients, and profession striving to be better in everything that he does.


  • Marianne VanDoorn, BVSc
    Marianne VanDoorn, BVSc
    Associate Veterinarian

    Dr. VanDoorn grew up in Poolesville, Maryland graduating with the class of 2003. She attended New York University majoring in Biology and minored in Chemistry. In 2008 she moved to Australia where she attended University of Melbourne graduating in 2011 with honors earning her veterinary degree.

    Dr. VanDoorn joined Poolesville Veterinary Clinic in 2013 as an associate veterinarian. She enjoys being able to share her knowledge with the community in which she grew up.

    Dr. VanDoorn enjoys horseback riding and video games, however these days she spends most of her free time with her husband and their two children, as well as their three cats; Miga, Sumi, and Miss Sassy Pants.


  • Ashley G. Young, DVM
    Ashley G. Young, DVM
    Associate Veterinarian and Acupuncturist

    Dr. Ashley Young is originally from Charlottesville, Virginia. As far back as she can remember, she always wanted to help animals. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Psychology at William and Mary, then received her veterinary degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine St. Kitts West Indies with a clinical year at Colorado State University. 

    She joined Poolesville Veterinary Clinic in 2013 as an associate veterinarian and acupuncture specialist.

    Dr. Young’s favorite patients are the elderly. She takes great pride in providing them comfort and great quality of life in their final years.

    Dr. Young shares her life with her husband David, a cat Irie Lime and dogs, Thira and Willie. She enjoys many different aspects of life, however traveling, cooking, and Friday nights in her PJ’s rank among the top!


  • Kay Breed, DVM
    Kay Breed, DVM
    Former Associate Veterinarian

    Dr. Kay Breed attended University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2007. She was born and raised in Panama City, FL and attended Davidson College in North Carolina where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2002. Dr. Breed is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association (HSVMA). 

    At the beginning of 2022, Dr. Breed changed paths from the clinical sector of veterinary medicine to fulfill a role within the FDA. While we are saddened she will no longer be working by our sides, we are beyond happy that she has this opportunity to grow and advance her career of helping animals. We remain in touch with Dr. Breed as a fellow community member and friend.

  • Cindy Eeg
    Cindy Eeg
    Practice Manager

    Cindy grew up in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Skidmore College with a Bachelor’s in Economics which led to a career with the NASD as a Senior Market Surveillance Analyst for 7 years. While living in Washington, DC she visited the upper Montgomery County area frequently to fill her desire to be near her equine friends which eventually led her to meet her husband, Dr. Peter Eeg.

    Cindy has been privileged to own, train and show Thoroughbreds throughout the East coast. Her Stallion, Sir James (registered name “Spoil Me”) showed in the Amateur Owner Division for many years and his offspring went on to excel in show as well.

    Over the years Cindy has generally been a behind the scenes employee being our Practice Manager, but has become visible as a Client Service Representative- she will quickly abandon the front desk to give a treat or two or catch a whiff of puppy breath! She also has a very special task of holding all 'littles' after their procedures.

    Cindy currently resides in Boyds, Maryland with her husband Dr. Peter Eeg, 3 dogs and 4 cats.

    When not at the clinic Dr. Eeg and Cindy spend quality time with each other. They are the proud parents of their daughter Jaime who graduated from Dartmouth College in New Hampshire.

  • Brittney W.
    Brittney Woods
    Office Manager

    Brittney first came to the Poolesville Veterinary Clinic as an intern during high school in 2004. Upon graduating from Poolesville High School she attended and graduated from College as a Medical Assistant in human medicine, during this time period she filled the role of Veterinary Client Service Representative at PVC. 

    She quickly realized that her true passion in medicine was with animals and decided to turn her skills over to the furry four-legged patients and began as a veterinary technician in 2008. At the end of 2017 she accepted a new role to fulfill as the office manager. Even though she is at a desk these days, you can still find her helping at the front desk and jumps at any chance she can to help provide care for patients. After 19 years with the practice, she continues to be devoted to the pets and families that have joined PVC. 

    Brittney is also a Poolesville native, living locally with her husband and son. They lovingly share their home with a Beagle named Honey and three cats: Spanky Doodle, Nora, and Alvin. She enjoys spending her free time with her family, gardening, arts and crafts, being outdoors, and watching movies.

    Client Service Representative

    Martha grew up locally on a dairy farm in Barnesville and resides nearby with her college sweetheart, now husband and 3 sons. Shortly after graduating college she began working at a local veterinary clinic where she briefly worked with Dr. Eeg.

    Martha joined Poolesville Veterinary Clinic in 2012 as a Client Service Representative.

    Martha enjoys working locally as it allows her to be more involved with helping the community.

    Martha and her husband share a home with a pup named Jolene and a cat named Clover.

    Kathy grew up in Montgomery County and moved to Poolesville when she and her husband married. Together they have raised their two sons and called Poolesville their home for over 30 years. Now that her two boys are grown, she and her husband share their home with two dogs, Brewster the Black Lab and Culper the spunky German Shepherd.

    Client Service Representative

    A newish transplant to Poolesville from down county, she and her husband were looking for a new place to call home and have rooted themselves in Dickerson- just outside of town. Together, they share their home with a 'really interesting' rescue cat named Dibble. Alison brings 30 years of vet practice experience to our team. When she is not at the front desk of the clinic greeting and helping clients and their pet friends, she enjoys her time gardening, cooking, paper art, and cheering on the Washington Capitals.

    Surgical and Lead Technician

    Kris has been a veterinary technician since 1992, and has been a part of Poolesville Veterinary Clinic since 2017. She grew up in Montgomery County and now lives in Poolesville with her husband and daughter. She shares her home with a rescue dog named Ginger and cat named Jack.

    She has a passion for helping humans find better ways to help and understand their pets.  

    She loves Science Fiction and Fantasy, comic book conventions, and the Commanders.

    Kierstin joined the Poolesville Vet team in 2017 as a technician with 6 years of experience. You can find her bopping around helping with appointments and donning her fun surgical caps to assist with procedures. Her bubbly personality is infectious and is sure to make you laugh!

    Tanya grew up in Gaithersburg with her family and crazy dog named Rocky. Her huge love for animals started when she was very young and at 13 years old she began spending time on a local farm in Dickerson. She is a member of the Montgomery County 4-H, showing pigs and cattle. Her 4-H experience has allowed her to extend her showings into jackpot shows all around Maryland and Pennsylvania.  

    Tanya gives credit to the amazing experience of caring for her livestock that lead her to find love for veterinary medicine and animal care.

    She started at PVC in 2022 and has absolutely loved being a part of the team. Having the opportunity to expand her skills and knowledge, her love for animals and the world of Veterinary Medicine has been rewarding and she is excited to grow her future with PVC.

    Mistress Trixie
    Clinic Supervisor

    Miss Trixie lives at PVC and takes her job very seriously. You may have the opportunity to meet her, on occasion, as she becomes more and more comfortable with being in charge. Currently, she offers support to her staff by making sure they are organized and never late for dinner. She has recently started supervising the front desk and you may find her in the window keeping a watchful eye to make sure the pups get their cookies when they come in, she believes cookies should be offered one right after the other. You may have the opportunity to be greeted by her in the lobby or sitting next to her on the bench as she also plays part time security. Trixie helps your pet by keeping all the fluffy beds nice and warm while they are under anesthesia, nothing better than waking up nice and cozy. Trixie is free roaming at all times and during office hours, will spend most of her time adventuring around the office managers desk at the back of the clinic- there's lots of fun things to climb on and knock over.

    Surgical and Lead Technician- Retired

    Candy moved to the Poolesville community from Chicago in the early 1990’s and became a vital member of Poolesville Veterinary Clinic in 1995 as a veterinary technician. She currently spends most of her time behind a surgical mask, but occasionally gets to visit the patients during appointments.

    *After a long and devoted career with Poolesville Veterinary Clinic, Candy has retired. We wish her well and she will be missed.

    Surgical and Lead Technician (Former)

    Quentin grew up and lives locally on a 100 acre farm. He became part of Poolesville Veterinary Clinic’s family in 2009. Quentin’s love for animals and eagerness to learn has led him to become an exceptional technician.

    *After 13 years of dedication to the Poolesville Veterinary Clinic team, clients, and patients- 'Q' has moved on to his next journey and has relocated out of state. We will miss him dearly and wish him all the happiness and success that his future holds.
